Moving home can be a very stressful experience and it is difficult to remember everything that needs to be done in the process, starting with packing up every single one of your belongings. Here are 7 things that could slip your mind when you are moving home…
Let people know you’re moving
You might not know who is moving into the home you are leaving, and you don't want any bills coming back to haunt you when you're all settled in your new place. Confirm your address change with all companies that your previous address is linked to.
Grab the essentials
From the ingredients to make your first cuppa to cleaning products and loo roll to phone chargers, pack a box of little things to make the move easier.
Give notice to your landlord
If you're renting, you'll need to let your landlord know the exact date you're moving out. You don’t want to be stuck paying both your mortgage and rent.
Get to know your new home
A new home means new things to learn. When do the bins get collected? Where is the stopcock? Are there any parking restrictions?
If you aren't registered, you don't get a say on who represents you. Being registered to vote can also help boost your credit score.
Change your locks
Just to be on the safe side, consider getting new locks fitted on your doors and windows and having a spare set of keys cut.
Register with a new GP and dentist
Arrange this ASAP so there are no delays when you need to see your GP, you never know when you will need them.
